About this Site

A fascination for lesions and diseases of the teeth and surrounding structures was a major component of the modern dental profession at its birth, starting with the 1830s. This site offers a collection of drawings from the dental and medical literature of the mid- and late-nineteenth century. These were gleaned from the browsings of Dr. J. E. Bouquot, Director of Research, Maxillofacial Center for Education and Research, Morgantown, WV (www.maxillofacialcenter.com). For Power Point presentations, somewhat larger jpeg images can be obtained from the Center (MFCenter@aol.com). Where possible, sources of the images are referenced. The images are not copyrighted. For more information about the beginning of oral pathology and oral medicine, see the "History of Oral Path" section on the Oral Pathology Home Page. To get there, click on Home Page button, top left.

The MFCenter Cases are maintained by the Maxillofacial Center for Education and Research, a non-profit research center in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA.
